NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL and PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION
Neuropsychological evaluation is essential for victims of concussion and brain trauma. It is essential for understanding and planning for patients with impaired memory, learning disabilities, and some chronic medical disorders, including chronic pain. It is usually extremely helpful for individuals who apply for disability benefits and/or seek compensation, due to psychological, psychiatric, or neurological problems.
Psychological evaluation is provided for individuals who may require information regarding intellectual functioning, or diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity for accommodations in school or at work. Personality evaluation is helpful for understanding the individual, and in enhancing self-awareness, communication skills, leadership and management skills, and other relationships.
TRAUMA and POSTTRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with traumatic experiences. Anxiety, fear, insomnia, and over-reactions to minor everyday stress can linger long after the traumatic event has past. Some individuals experience flashbacks, panic attacks and other more severe symptoms. Often, simply understanding the nature of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and learning some basic coping tools can help to relieve symptoms significantly.
Psychological therapy can be helpful to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection in all stages of their relationship. We also work to help repair relationships after experiencing a trauma or betrayal of trust, or to assist in parenting after a relationship ends. We focus on advocating mutual respect, better communication, and working together to get through difficult periods.
